Gamla Linköping Open-Air Museum

Experience Swedish small-town life from a hundred years ago! Here there are wooden houses, cobbled lanes, museums and exhibitions, shops and historical gardens. Also visit the Vallaskogen Nature Reserve and the rural idyll, Valla Gård, a short walk from the town quarter. The open-air museum has several cafés, restaurants and accommodation options.

Open all year. General opening times for the shop and exhibitions:
Mon-Fri 10.00-17.00, Sat-Sun 11.00-16.00 (subject to variation).

Swedish Air Force Museum

The Swedish Air Force Museum is an exciting trip! The Swedish Air Force Museum is a technical and cultural history museum with prizewinning exhibitions on the development of military aviation from early 1900s to today’s JAS 39 Gripen. It is also a place where knowledge and play naturally come together.

In the science centre Flight Lab there is a flight simulator and experimentation stations on the theme of air and flight. Also at the museum is a well-stocked shop, fact room, restaurant and café Calle C.

The Museum of Östergötland

THE MUSEUM BUILDING IS CLOSED FOR 1000 DAYS OF RENOVATION - The museum building in Linköping will be completely renovated and will be closed to visitors for a long time to come. At the same time, parts of our public and educational activities to develop and continue elsewhere. So keep an eye on our website and on Facebook and Instagram!

Experiences for everyone! The museum’s range of exhibitions and activities is extensive and everyone is equally welcome! The Museum of Östergötland offers an enjoyable and inspiring programme of activities for all ages, for example, creativity in various forms, yoga, sketching, lectures on different subjects and Viljan’s World for the little ones. In the permanent exhibitions you can see fine art, learn more about the county’s cultural history and Swedish data history.

The museum also produces different temporary exhibits with exciting and current themes. You will find the Museum of Östergötland in central Linköping, in a fantastic and well-preserved functionalist-style building from 1939. If you are hungry or fancy a snack there is the Hagdahls Kök restaurant. And in the museum shop you can buy designer goods, books, toys and much more.

Castle and Cathedral Museum

Meet the middle ages in central Linköping! Welcome to an exciting medieval museum in Linköping Castle. Hear tell of the bishop’s estate which became a royal palace and other exciting subjects on a medieval theme. The castle, dating from the 1100s, is the country’s oldest secular building which is still in use.

You can step into Bishop Bengt’s tower from 1286 and see the results of the archaeologist’s work. In the treasury many of the Cathedral’s unique textiles from the late 1300s and onward, and ecclesiastical silverware from the days when Sweden was a great power, are on display. In the museum there are several models of the building’s development through the centuries and a historical wardrobe with medieval clothes to try on. Genuinely a museum for all ages!

Passagen Linköpings konsthall

Linköping’s Art Gallery Passagen displays a broad and powerful selection of contemporary art. In a large bright location at Stora Torget 2 in central Linköping you, as a visitor, can find regional as well as national and international exhibitions. Every year six exhibitions are arranged focusing on contemporary art’s various forms of expression. Qualitative, keen and current art.

Seminars, public discussions and group viewings are included as a natural part of business. For the slightly younger public there are also different types of artistic activities and sometimes youthful live music is on offer.
