The people of Linköping love Melodifestivalen, and we at Linköping Innersta, Visit Linköping, and Linköping Municipality want to turn the entire week into one big party together with all of you businesses in the city center. The more who participate, the more fun it will be! A mellow quiz, balloons, mellow pastries, or mellow music all week long—the only limit is your imagination on how your business can contribute. So put on your gold hat, boa, and dancing shoes, and start brainstorming now on what you can do!
On this page, you will find information about what will happen, suggestions on what you can do, and also register for the joint program for the week. Later, you will also be able to find marketing materials that you can use in your business.
Questions and Answers
The first heat of Melodifestivalen will take place in the Saab arena. There will be rehearsals in front of an audience on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, followed by the actual heat on Saturday evening. These events are expected to attract about 15,000 visitors. On Saturday, January 31st, there will be Melfest at Stora torget – a family event with entertainment and SVT’s children’s favorites such as Bolibompadraken and Sommarskuggan. This usually attracts several thousand people, primarily families. There may also be autograph signings and other events sponsored by SVT and Melodifestivalen.
Visit Linköping and Linköping city center will have a tent at Stora torget on Saturday, January 31st, with various activities, and we will also carry out activities in the city starting Saturday, January 24th. We encourage participating businesses to spread out their activities throughout the entire week before.
We want as many businesses as possible to get involved in making the entire week before Melodifestivalen a celebration for the people of Linköping and visitors. You can do this by creating an activity, event, competition, or something similar with a “mello theme.” Or why not develop a special product, maybe a mello pastry, a drink, or an entire menu based on the theme? Of course, we would love for you to decorate your shops, play mello music, and dress up your staff to create a festive atmosphere. We know that all businesses have different capabilities in terms of what they can do, but everyone can contribute to the best of their ability!
A program for the week of January 24-31 will be presented on Visit Linköping’s website, so take the opportunity to register what your business plans to do by January 10 to be included in the program. You will find a link to the form here on the page. Keep in mind that the earlier you register, the greater visibility you will get in the joint program.
You bear the cost of your own activity/happening/tasting. Besides that, participation is free of charge, and you will then be presented in the joint program that is marketed.
Visit Linköping, together with Linköping innersta and Linköping’s municipality, organizes and funds a marketing campaign that starts before the Mello week. This will be noticeable on outdoor spaces and billboards in the city, on social media, websites, and through various activities.
Marketing materials that participating businesses can use will be available on this website. The more who use it, the greater the effect will be! Note that it is not allowed to use the Melodifestivalen logo or name in your own marketing; instead, use the common material we provide.
