Within the project Sustainable Tourism, Visit Linköping & Co has developed 17 Environmental Criteria with the aim of highlighting and making visible businesses within Linköping’s tourism industry that work environmentally sustainably.

The goal of the environmental criteria is to make visible role models/ambassadors within Linköping’s tourism industry that work environmentally sustainably and highlight these to inspire other players to develop in the same direction and create opportunities to share knowledge and experiences.

The environmental criteria are inspired by the GSTC’s criteria for sustainable tourism and various certifications such as the Swan and Green Key. The criteria have also been linked to the 17 goals in Agenda 2030 and the GSTC’s criteria to ensure that the environmental criteria, if met, contribute to achieving the global goals for sustainable development. Read more about GSTC here.

To become an environmentally secured business, the business submits an application, then a visit is made to the business where we together review the criteria and how the business meets them. Based on the application and visit, an assessment is made of the number of criteria the business meets and based on that, the labeling Environmentally Secured Business (meets at least 10 criteria) or Environmental Ambassador (meets at least 14 criteria) is given. Businesses that have a food service need to meet 1 extra criterion.

The following businesses are environmentally secured:

Environmental Ambassador

  • Naturlogi
  • Vårdnäs Hotell & Stiftsgård

Environmentally Secured Business

  • Flygvapenmuseum
  • Quality Hotel Ekoxen
