BENIGHTED was born from members of the French death and black metal bands DISHUMANIZED, DARKNESS FIRE, and OSGILIATH, who joined forces in 1998 to create a more brutal, heavy, and modern expression. When their first self-produced and self-titled full-length album was released in 2000, it immediately made a strong impression – a side project had become a main act.

A rapidly growing fan base was built up through a series of acclaimed albums: “Psychose” (2002), “Insane Cephalic Production” (2004), “Identisick” (2006), and “Icon” (2007), all of which were received with great enthusiasm.

After “Asylum Cave” (2011) and “Carnivore Sublime” (2014), the Frenchmen took a step away from the increasingly complex development and returned to their roots with “Necrobreed” (2017). After their 20th anniversary, it was time for BENIGHTED to capture the living madness on “Dogs Always Bite Harder Than Their Master,” released in 2018.

Now BENIGHTED is ready to continue their razor-sharp journey with “Obscene Repressed,” which once again revolves around the human psyche and tells the story of little Michael, who constantly struggles against his demons due to unresolved Oedipal problems with his mother. Pure and sheer brutality!
