Towards the end of the 1800s, Spanish motifs became popular in music — the most famous result is perhaps Bizet’s Carmen. With his Spanish heritage, Édouard Lalo also had a special feeling for Spain. We can hear that in his exuberant and virtuosic violin concerto. Here, dramatic passages meet rhythmic flamenco motifs. Everything blends into a vibrant southern fiesta. The highly sought-after violinist Clara-Jumi Kang performs the concerto on a Stradivarius from 1702.
The Spanish interest spread even up to Russia, where Rimsky-Korsakov wrote his Capriccio espagnole. The piece is based on Spanish folk melodies, and the last part, a fandango asturiano with many beautiful solos, leads to a sparkling finish.

The bag ban no longer applies to Konsert & Kongress, Saab Arena, and Stångebrofältet.
However, we recommend bringing a smaller bag – preferably no larger than 40 x 40 x 20 cm – to facilitate entry and storage. Bags may be searched at the entrance.

Linköping Concert & Congress is centrally located in Linköping, a short walk from the Travel Center. You can easily and environmentally friendly get here by bus or commuter train, see www.ostgotatrafiken.se www.ostgotatrafiken.se for timetables. From many parts of the city, it is also within walking distance to us.
