What role does art play for freedom of expression?

Free admission
A conversation about freedom of expression, democracy, and what the people want. What does arm’s length mean, why does the concept exist, and why is it important? When democracy is in retreat and the world feels more uncertain than it has in a long time — what role do art and culture play then?
Why are there constitutional writings about cultural welfare for citizens in Sweden? Shakespeare’s plays have survived for four hundred years but were created in a society where there was no freedom of expression and where power was strongly concentrated around the monarchy. So, is freedom of expression necessary for good art to happen?
Panel discussion with Mette Hildeman Sjölin, Birgül Özbaris, Stefan Jonsson, and Pontus Plænge
