Opposite Linköping Cathedral lies this exciting medieval museum where the thrilling history of Linköping’s town, castle, and cathedral development comes to life!

From the 12th century to the Renaissance – here you can see the cathedral’s unique treasures and the hidden bishop’s tower from the 13th century.

The museum is housed in Linköping Castle. Here you can digitally travel 900 years back in time with the push of a button, starting from the mid-12th century. You can step into Bishop Bengt’s tower, built in 1286, which still stands completely intact within the castle’s walls. The bishop’s fortress was transformed by Gustav Vasa into a royal castle, which became a governor’s residence at the end of the 18th century.

In the treasury on the second floor, some of the cathedral’s fantastic silver objects and unique textiles are displayed, the oldest of which were made by the Birgitta sisters in Vadstena in the 1300s and 1400s.

The museum also offers a unique environment for private groups of up to 70 people, and weddings, lectures, and children’s parties are common events. Also guided tours in the castle’s garden with medieval heritage.
