Guided walk about Kinda Canal’s history with Linköping’s guide club.
From the 1850s and a century onward, Linköping’s harbor was busily trafficked – and one of Sweden’s largest inland ports. Industries were established that favorably affected the city well into the 1900s. Many buildings still remain, though not the Sugar Factory, but the memory of the gigantic “illegal construction” lives on and traces can still be seen of the factory that was in operation until 1955.
Starting point: Stångs magasin (ending at Nykvarns lock)
Length: 1.2 km, along the river/canal, (strollers and wheelchairs welcome)
Price: 100 kr adult, 50 kr youth (6-16 years). Children under 6 years free. Tickets for youth are purchased on site via swish.
