Welcome to the vernissage for the sound installation In the Shadow of War by Lars “Lachen” Jonsson.
The exhibition / installation attempts to depict how the madness of war and incomprehensible suffering leave traces in people and human culture. The exhibition explores how war has become institutionalized violence and a part of human society. How can one talk about this? How can it be given a voice? Is it possible to explain the violence? What are the driving forces behind war today? Is it possible to write poetry and create music, In the shadow of a war?
The exhibition includes recorded poetry, but also short interviews with people who have experienced war or been affected by this form of violence in some way. There will also be texts from books with eyewitness accounts, diaries, and comments.
