Welcome to Crafts and arts in Östergötland in Östergötland, a member association with its own store, gallery, and workshops in central Linköping!

In a cultural district dating back to the 1700s, explore exhibitions in the Craft Gallery, shop for locally crafted handicrafts in the store, or take courses in our red workshop at Hemslöjdsgården. We operate throughout Östergötland on behalf of the Region Östergötland.

Hemslöjden’s purpose and ideals lie in conveying the fundamental connections between materials, techniques, and function, aiming to stimulate development and innovation rooted in tradition. For many, handicrafts have become a lifestyle, an expression of sustainable living in various senses. We are a non-profit county association with operational facilities in Linköping, Norrköping, and Motala.

Hemslöjdskonsulenterna (Craft Consultants) in Östergötland are stationed at Hemslöjdsgården in Linköping, covering the entire county in their activities. The association was formed in 1910, and with over a century of experience, we understand that handicrafts contribute to people’s well-being.

Annually, around a hundred artisans and craftsmen supply locally produced items to our store. Our store houses a unique collection of traditional Östergötland costumes, and we are also retailers for select Swedish craft industries. Hemslöjden in Östergötland has been operating its store since 1911. The store is owned by Östergötlands Läns Hemslöjdsförening and operated through the company Östgöta Hemslöjd AB. Located at Storgatan 41 in Linköping, the store has been here since 1968.
