A stone’s throw from the Kinda Canal, the unique tower of Vist Church soars towards the sky. Some might wrinkle their noses when they see the “concrete block,” while others see a living and distinctive document of its time.

The earliest church in Husby-Wist might have existed as early as the 12th century. A first stone church was built in the 1350s and yet another in 1745. That church was destroyed in a fire in 1961. The current church was inaugurated on Easter Sunday 1965. The old walls and window openings have been reused. The church is filled with symbolism and unconventional solutions. The altar has been freed from the wall and moved closer to the congregation. The pulpit has also been moved down, closer to the congregation. The church’s ceiling is painted by the artist Per Göransson. The choir mosaic, the altarpiece, was inaugurated in 1972 and is a work by the artist Bengt Olof Kälde.
