Stjärnorps slottsruin
Just north of Bergs locks stands the ruin of Stjärnorp Castle
Visit websiteJust north of Bergs locks with breathtakingly beautiful lake views, stands the ruin of Stjärnorp Castle. The castle was built in the 1650s, in the then Vreta Abbey parish, by the count and field marshal Robert Douglas.
The castle was designed by the well-known architect Nicodemus Tessin the Elder, also the architect for Drottningholm Palace.
A major fire destroyed the castle and the adjacent buildings in 1789. Today you can visit the ruin from the park side. For tours in the ruin and the tower see www.slottstornet.se.
Stjärnorp Church is housed in the southern wing, and is a vibrant parish church.
The area annually attracts many visitors who, in addition to viewing the ruin, hike in the lush Stjärnorp ravine. The ravine feels almost tropical with its ferns and winding stream.
