We work systematically in creating a climate and resource-smart operation that reduces our environmental impact and promotes a more sustainable future. Through concrete measures and long-term goals, we integrate an environmental perspective into our operational routines through the following three focus areas:
Food and drink with reduced environmental impact
Food and drink play a central role in the operations we conduct at Linköping Concert & Congress. We strive to offer dishes based on organic and locally produced ingredients, as well as collaborate with environmentally certified suppliers who follow our code of conduct. Our menus are adapted to seasonal ingredients to create sustainable dining experiences for our visitors.
We work to maintain our Swan and Green Key certifications and have goals around increasing the proportion of organic and local ingredients in the restaurant. The goal is to offer an even more sustainable and locally characterized range each year. Through this, we help our customers make conscious choices. At the same time, measures are taken to reduce food waste at the facility.
We also have goals and ambitions to create activities around food and drink that involve the tourism industry in Linköping. At our own events and co-hosted events, we set clear requirements to ensure that sustainability principles are adhered to at all stages.

Reduced climate impact from visitors’ travels
The travels of visitors to Linköping contribute to the greatest climate impact of our operations. Visit Linköping & Co does not have direct control over this issue, but by encouraging sustainable travel to all events in our event calendar, mapping travel patterns, and encouraging sustainable meetings, we can influence more sustainable behaviors.
For 2021, the company’s tourism mission was expanded with a mission to contribute to an environmentally sustainable destination, and we actively work on this. We market and communicate green experiences to visitors via social media and our website and also highlight sustainable travel. We have also formed a reference group for sustainability, in which companies prominent in sustainability within tourism participate. In addition, we have developed an Environmental Assurance for Linköping’s tourism industry to highlight actors who work environmentally sustainably and make it easier for visitors to make green and sustainable choices when visiting Linköping, read more about it here.
In our international marketing, we prioritize nearby markets where there are more opportunities for visitors to travel to Linköping in a more sustainable way, for example via train or other forms of public transport.
Reduced use of plastic and other consumables
Reducing the use of plastics and various types of consumables is an important part of our environmental efforts to reduce our waste and climate impact. As part of our Swan and Green Key certifications for Linköping Concert & Congress, we continuously work on reducing consumables and single-use items. In addition, we have intensified work to find replacement products for plastic items and aim to expand this work to arenas outside the Concert & Congress.
We also have goals regarding introducing a new waste sorting system for guests and staff at Linköping Concert & Congress. We continue to prioritize digital solutions instead of printed materials and minimize this as much as possible and also have goals to annually reduce the consumption of copy paper. When we must use printed materials, they should be 100% environmentally certified.
