Valborg Aulin’s Tableaux Parisiens takes us on a colorful tour of a vibrant Paris.

In the spring of 1885, Aulin was awarded the prestigious Jenny Lind scholarship by the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, which gave her the opportunity to further her education in Paris and deepen her knowledge in orchestration and instrumentation. Aulin engaged in the city’s musical life, and a piece that made a particular impression was Symphonie fantastique by Hector Berlioz. A suite by Jules Massenet inspired her to create Tableaux Parisiens, a suite that depicts festivities and tranquility on the streets of Paris; the first movement’s Life in Full Swing portrays carnival time, Night’s Stillness reflects when the stranger has returned home and turns inward. The Ball Scene is elegant with festive waltz rhythms, while the final movement, Festive Evening at Trocadéro, depicts Paris in festive attire with fountains and fireworks.
Hjalmar Gullberg’s and Lars-Erik Larsson’s A God Disguised is one of our most beloved choral works. The piece premiered in 1940, and is a hopeful reminder of humanism and humanity in a dark time. In this concert, the baritone Mikael Horned, who hails from Linköping, and court singer Elin Rombo are soloists. The Musical Society’s Chamber Choir, Bel Canto Choir, and Östgöta Chamber Choir form the large symphonic choir. The narrator is the actor Stina von Sydow.

The bag ban no longer applies to Konsert & Kongress, Saab Arena, and Stångebrofältet.
However, we recommend bringing a smaller bag – preferably no larger than 40 x 40 x 20 cm – to facilitate entry and storage. Bags may be searched at the entrance.

Linköping Concert & Congress is centrally located in Linköping, a short walk from the Travel Center. You can easily and environmentally friendly get here by bus or commuter train, see www.ostgotatrafiken.se www.ostgotatrafiken.se for timetables. From many parts of the city, it is also within walking distance to us.
