Tchaikovsky’s Fifth – Norrköping Symphony Orchestra

Tchaikovsky conducted the premiere of his Fifth Symphony himself in November 1888 – a work that had been created under significant self-doubt but immediately became a great success. The symphony is a settlement with fate, similar to the Fourth Symphony, which was completed ten years earlier. Just before he composed the work, he noted these lines:
“Introduction. Complete submission to fate, or – which is the same – to the inscrutable predestination of providence. (…) A wonderful program – if only it can be realized.”
The motif of fate runs through the entire work, but in the end, light prevails.

The bag ban no longer applies to Konsert & Kongress, Saab Arena, and Stångebrofältet.
However, we recommend bringing a smaller bag – preferably no larger than 40 x 40 x 20 cm – to facilitate entry and storage. Bags may be searched at the entrance.

Linköping Concert & Congress is centrally located in Linköping, a short walk from the Travel Center. You can easily and environmentally friendly get here by bus or commuter train, see www.ostgotatrafiken.se www.ostgotatrafiken.se for timetables. From many parts of the city, it is also within walking distance to us.
