An evening with symphonic masterpieces at Linköping Concert & Congress on October 8. Rachmaninov’s second piano concerto – along with Berwald and Sibelius
Featuring one of Europe’s leading youth symphony orchestras, the Zürich Youth Orchestra, playing at a fully professional level. It is a full-size symphony orchestra with 95 musicians.
Before the concert, virtuoso chamber music ensembles from the orchestra entertain in the entrance hall of Linköping Concert & Congress.
The program is a pure wish concert. First, the overture to Estrella de Soria by Franz Berwald, our great Swedish symphonist – music filled with energy, drama, and unexpected twists, personal and unmistakably Berwald.
Next, one of the most beloved works of the romantic era: Rachmaninov’s second piano concerto. Music that goes straight to the heart, with great emotions, sweeping melodies, and a piano that both sings and roars. Many recognize the themes, even if they don’t know where from. It doesn’t get more romantic than this.
Finally, Jean Sibelius’ first symphony. Here unfolds a Nordic landscape, darkly shimmering yet full of strength and life – a symphony that grips and holds the listener firmly from the first note to the last.
The piano soloist is the young star pianist Ilya Shmukler, recently winner of the international piano competition Concours Géza Anda.

If there is no food to order, it is because the pre-order has closed. The order needs to be made no later than 1:00 PM, two working days before the event. After this, pre-ordering is closed. But there is an opportunity to buy a limited selection of food on-site before the event.

The bag ban no longer applies to Konsert & Kongress, Saab Arena, and Stångebrofältet.
However, we recommend bringing a smaller bag – preferably no larger than 40 x 40 x 20 cm – to facilitate entry and storage. Bags may be searched at the entrance.

Linköping Concert & Congress is centrally located in Linköping, a short walk from the Travel Center. You can easily and environmentally friendly get here by bus or commuter train, see www.ostgotatrafiken.se www.ostgotatrafiken.se for timetables. From many parts of the city, it is also within walking distance to us.
