True Love

Is it true that true love hurts? The play portrays Pauline’s journey into and through a relationship where psychological abuse gradually becomes normalized. Pauline is strong, smart, empathetic, loving, and passionate.

Initially, the relationship with Niclas seems to be characterized by companionship, closeness, passion, and deep love. The love of Pauline’s life?

Soon, small shifts appear from Niclas’s side, but he excuses them as care and misunderstandings.
The control intensifies through guilt and manipulation. Pauline adapts more and more and begins to doubt her own perception of reality. The cycle of violence repeats in ever tighter loops.
In the end, she is confronted with the awareness of the pattern she is in, but does she manage to break free?

Sandra Thulin is originally trained as a dancer with Pop N Taco (who was, among others, Michael Jackson’s personal dance coach) as her dance coach and mentor. In recent years, she has studied Children’s and Youth Literature at Linnaeus University, authored her first children’s book “The Magical Garden” and trained as an actress, participated in various films, TV, and commercials, and has been part of the Old Linköping Street Theater for several years.
