Handicraft in Östergötland

Welcome to Hemslöjden in Östergötland, a member association with its own shop, gallery, and workshops in central Linköping!

In a cultural quarter with traces from the 1700s, you can enjoy exhibitions in the Slöjdgalleriet, shop for locally produced crafts and handicrafts in the store, or take courses in our red magazine at Hemslöjdsgården. We operate throughout Östergötland on behalf of the Region Östergötland.

Hemslöjden’s purpose and ideals are to convey the fundamental connections between material, technique, and function, and to stimulate development and innovation based on tradition. Crafting has for many become a lifestyle, an expression of living more sustainably in several different senses. We are a non-profit county association with premises in Linköping, Norrköping, and Motala.

The craft consultants in Östergötland are stationed at Hemslöjdsgården in Linköping and have the entire county as their work area. The association was founded in 1910 and with more than 100 years of experience, we know that crafts make people feel good.

Annually, hundreds of craftsmen and artisans deliver locally produced products to the store. In the store, there is a unique costume chamber with traditional costumes from Östergötland, and we are also resellers for some Swedish craft industries. Hemslöjden in Östergötland has been conducting retail sales since 1911. The store is owned by Östergötlands Läns Hemslöjdsförening and is operated by the company Östgöta Hemslöjd AB. The store has been located at Storgatan 41 in Linköping since 1968.
