Salt Splash & Smuggled Spirits tour
- Linköping Konsert & Kongress
- Organizer: 2Entertain
On the Halland coast lies the magnificent and beautiful “Badhotell Klitterviken”. Or well… it was magnificent when it was built once upon a time. Now, at the end of the 1920s, after years of declining guest numbers, the bath hotel has definitely seen better days.
However, it is a fact that the pompous owner Estrid (Helena Aspeflo) stubbornly refuses to see. In her world, Klitterviken still shines, and she does everything to keep the illusion alive. She constantly chases her henpecked husband Hubert (Håkan Klamas) to do what they can to survive and above all to maintain the appearance of an exclusive bath hotel, even though the walls say something completely different.
It is a time of prohibition and rationing, and a lot of German liquor is being smuggled across the Kattegat. Therefore, hotel owner Hubert, behind his wife’s back, has made a deal with one of the west coast’s biggest smuggling kings, Konrad Stålberg (Daniel Träff) to make some extra money. A large shipment of smuggled spirits has been delivered to the hotel overnight and is now to be forwarded.
The whole business might have gone fairly smoothly if it hadn’t been for Estrid booking a wake at the hotel the same day for the wealthy widow Stråhle (Ewa Roos), whose deceased husband was chairman of Halland’s sobriety committee. Moreover, the widow has promised to donate a substantial sum of money to the hotel provided that the wake proceeds calmly and with dignity.
The owners’ daughter Alfrida (Jeanette Capocci) also suddenly shows up at the hotel. Ordinarily, she is based in Gothenburg, but now she is on a highly personal mission—to expose her, as she suspects, unfaithful lover. That she simultaneously recently lost her job and burned most of her parents’ money at the city’s jazz clubs and dance halls… well, that’s a detail she very carefully hasn’t shared with mom and dad.
Of course, problems don’t take long to arise. Pastor Livhed (Mikael Riesebeck) who is to lead the memorial service turns out to have narcolepsy and falls asleep at every turn. The local postman Dag-Otto Flink (Jojje Jönsson) shows up to “help out” but in the end doesn’t know if he’s a postman, smuggler, waiter, or priest. The talkative and filterless Rut (Annika Andersson) and her mumbling, stumbling, and bath-hungry husband Ragnar (Mikael Riesebeck) check into the hotel and, of course, become involuntarily dragged into the mess.
With a crumbling bath hotel full of smuggled liquor, a corpse gone astray, threatening liquor police, far too many priests, and a coffin that never seems to contain what it should—the circus is soon in full swing!
It becomes a dead funny salt-sprinkled bath farce where it’s way too cramped in the coffin!
Meet the Vallarna gang on a big Sweden tour, starring: Annika Andersson, Micke Riesebeck, Ewa Roos, Jojje Jönsson, Jeanette Capocci, Håkan Klamas, Daniel Träff, and Helena Aspeflo
