Hiking in Tinnerö
Tinnerö oak landscape begins where the city ends and is a popular nature area where both Linköping residents and visitors come for wonderful nature experiences year-round. In the beautiful grazing landscape, there are inviting oak pastures, forests, and bird lakes just waiting to be discovered. Smedstad ponds, Frökärret, and Rosenkällasjön in Tinnerö are particularly visitor-friendly areas with good parking facilities, information boards, picnic areas, toilets, and other facilities for visitors.
If you want to experience the most that Tinnerö has to offer, there is the hiking trail Tinneröstigen, which takes you through the entire area. Vidingsjö Nature Reserve
Hikes for those who want to smell the scent of coniferous forest but also want to be close to the city and easy to find. The hiking trails run through Vidingsjö nature reserve with large pines and spruces and lovely soft green moss and are well marked. At Vidingsjö activity center, there are also plenty of facilities: café, water toilet, water refill, several barbecue places, picnic tables, outdoor gym, and benches under a roof. Hiking in Vallaskogen
Vallaskogen is a nature reserve in central Linköping offering a beautiful coniferous forest experience and is one of the city’s most visited natural areas with an extensive network of pathways and trails that lead you through the area. You can find a map and more information here.
A large part of the nature reserve belongs to the open-air museum Gamla Linköping. In close proximity to the forest are the museum’s city quarters with shops, eateries, and toilets. The opening hours of the various businesses may vary; for more info, visit gamlalinkoping.se.

Stångåstråket
Taking a walk along Stångåstråket is doing as the Linköping residents do. This route is a popular round among the locals, and you will encounter many exercisers and dog owners taking their usual round around the river. Stångåstråket leads you past locks, swimming areas, boat harbors, parks, cafes, restaurants, and recreational areas.
The surface varies between gravel road and asphalt with an easy difficulty level. Throughout your walk, you have a view of the Stångån/Kinda Canal and can see boats moving through the locks during the summer season.
