Tips for an epic summer concert

Do you feel ready to take on the concert summer in Linköping? Because now summer’s concerts are closer than ever.

Soon we will be there, singing along to Laleh and dancing to Bolaget. You know that the concert will feel free if you buy your ticket long before the event? It is scientifically proven*! Below, we have gathered our very best and most necessary tips for a successful concert evening. Enjoy!

Before: Preparations

• New songs? Or maybe a whole new album? Make sure to catch up on any new music. Sure, the classics are good, but it’s boring to miss a sing-along opportunity. Take the opportunity to listen to the new music in the car, at the gym, or on the beach!
• Contact your concert buddies and plan how you will get excited for the evening. A nice picnic, cozy barbecue evening, or treat yourselves to a good dinner at one of Linköping’s many restaurants? The possibilities are many! See Linköping’s selection of restaurants here.
• What are you allowed to bring? Check what applies at your particular event, is it okay with a bag, umbrella, or folding chair? Check this out before the event so you can enter the area much smoother!

During: Enjoy!

• Arrive in good time at Stångebrofältet. You and your friends want good seats and time to buy any refreshments on site.
• Do you want to film with your mobile phone for personal use during the concert? Go for it! A suggestion is not to sing along with the song being performed while you are filming. There is a risk that you might be heard more than the artist, but who knows, you might have an undiscovered talent!

After: The party continues

• Don’t risk getting a concert hangover! You know the feeling – when you feel a bit empty after a long-awaited event and have nothing to look forward to. Therefore, book your next experience now, so the concert excitement continues. See the event calendar here.
• The concert is over, but the night is young! Continue the evening at one of Linköping’s pubs, restaurants, or nightclubs. Did we hear karaoke?

Bonus: The packing list!

What are really the best things to bring to a concert? We would recommend these:

• Fully charged phone! So you can film and take pictures as much as you want. But also so you can easily contact your friends if you got separated. Many people gather at Stångebrofältet.
• Insect repellent! It really can’t hurt. You want to focus on the music and not worry about tomorrow’s mosquito bites?
• Rain poncho! Check your weather forecasts but bring a rain poncho just in case. You will not be allowed to bring an umbrella into the area so that you are not in the way of other concertgoers.
• Blanket! Comfortable to sit on if the opportunity arises. Maybe difficult to do at the front of the stage. But for those who prefer to sit further back, it’s nice to sit on a blanket with friends and take in the concert. Unfortunately, folding chairs are not allowed to be brought into the area, so it’s a good alternative if you want to rest your legs a bit.
